Moving Toward a Cleaner, Safer, Healthier Environment

A Cleaner, Healthier World Community

Other International Energy Activities

The United States launched a program to increase access to affordable, reliable, clean, and efficient energy services through public-private partnerships a t the U.N. World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg in 2002. Supporting this effort is the multi-agency Clean Energy Technology Export (CETE) initiative, a partnership between the U.S. government and the private sector to facilitate the export of clean and efficient energy technologies. The U.S. also participates in a wide range of bilateral and multilateral energy partnerships, such as the 3 rd US-Africa Energy Ministerial held in Morocco in 2002 which included approximately 40 African countries, and focused on energy security and economic challenges and strategies to protect against supply disruptions, reduce oil demand growth, promote natural gas development, and deploy clean energy technologies.
