The World Will Always Remember September 11
As part of a nationwide tribute to those who lost their lives in the attacks on America on September 11, crewmembers aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour and the International Space Station marked the three-month anniversary of the attacks on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 8:46 a.m. EST.

The tribute, which was broadcast live on NASA Television, included the playing of the American and Russian national anthems in the Space Shuttle and International Space Station Mission Control Centers at the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston.

The event also featured live and taped remarks from the three commanders currently in orbit and the remaining seven American astronauts and Russian cosmonauts that make up the Expedition Three, Expedition Four and STS-108 crews.

Endeavour is orbiting the Earth with 6000 small U.S. flags that are part of NASA's "Flags for Heroes and Families" program.

The Space Shuttle is also carrying three flags flown at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the Pennsylvania State Capitol in Harrisburg, along with a number of New York City police officer shields and patches, a Fire Department of New York flag and poster with the pictures of firefighters who lost their lives in the attacks.
