A safe, clean environment will result in healthier Americans. President Bush is a strong advocate for protection from hazardous materials, the safe removal of waste from populated areas, the strict enforcement of environmental law, and programs that encourage personal health and fitness. His programs and policies specifically address such issues as reduction of lead poisoning, food safety, biomonitoring, asthma research, reduction of noise pollution, and the opening of more recreation areas to encourage healthy outdoor activity.
