Blue Room
White House photo by Paul Morse.
The Blue Room is where the official White House Christmas tree stands. This year an 18-foot Concolor
fir, grown in the mountains of Central Pennsylvania, was presented to Mrs. Bush by Hill View Tree Farm
of Middleburg. This stately fir has soft silvery-blue foliage with a distinctive citrus aroma. The tree
was given to the White House by Janice Bowersox and her son and daughter-in-law, Darryl and Aimee Bowersox.
The Bowersox Family was named the 2000 National Grand Champion Grower by the National Christmas Tree Association.
The ornaments on the tree are inspired by the theme, Home for the Holidays. Artists from all 50 states
and the District of Columbia designed miniature replicas of historic houses from their region. Each tiny
house gives one a chance to reflect on and appreciate the wonderful diverse heritage of the American people.
Also on this sparkling tree you will find crystal snowflakes, glass icicles, silver and gold glass balls,
and white glass pine cones.
