During the meeting the vice president honored the Plank Owners for their service in World War II. A Plank Owner is an individual who served as member of the crew of a ship when that ship was placed in commission. The submarine USS Bashaw, commissioned on October 25, 1943, engaged in six wartime patrols in the Pacific.
