Hayes: Surrounded by a wrought iron fence and six original White House gates, President Rutherford B. Hayes' 33-room mansion, "Spiegel Grove," is the centerpiece of the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidental Center in Fremont, Ohio. In 1880, before returning to the home from the Presidency, Hayes built an addition and renovated the interior to include a 12,000-book library, a reception room and indoor plumbing.
