 Madison: First settled in 1723 by Ambrose Madison, President James Madison's grandfather, "Montpelier" in Montpelier Station, Virginia was President Madison's home. The President's father built the current house in 1760, to which President Madison made structural changes and added two additions. The house still stands today, more than 240 years later.
