Madison: First settled in 1723 by Ambrose Madison, President James Madison's grandfather, "Montpelier" in Montpelier Station, Virginia was President Madison's home. The President's father built the current house in 1760, to which President Madison made structural changes and added two additions. The house still stands today, more than 240 years later. Located at the Center and Cross Halls

In keeping with the theme Home for the Holidays, replicas from the original family home plans of the nation's Presidents were created by White House staff members and displayed in a wintry forest throughout the rooms of the White House.
