Compassion in Action Roundtable Highlights State Service Strategies
On Friday, August 29, 2008, the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives (OFBCI) convened a Compassion in Action roundtable titled, "Advancing Compassion and Service Strategies at the State Level." Hosted by OFBCI Director Jay Hein, the Roundtable featured innovative and effective state-level efforts to partner volunteer outreach and support with Faith-Based and Community Initiative activities to expand public-private partnerships with frontline nonprofits to more effectively address community challenges. Speakers included representatives from FBCI State Liaison offices of Texas, Alabama, and Florida, as well as representatives from the Corporation for National and Community Service and AmeriCorps State and National.
