Personnel Announcement

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate two individuals to serve in his Administration.

The President intends to nominate Robert F. Cohen, Jr., of West Virginia, to be a Member of the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission, for the remainder of a six-year term. Mr. Cohen currently serves as an Attorney at Cohen, Abate and Cohen, L.C. Prior to this, he was in private practice in Fairmont, West Virginia. Mr. Cohen received his bachelor's degree from Brown University and his JD from Boston University Law School.

The President intends to nominate Marcia S. B. Bernicat, of New Jersey, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Senegal and to the Republic of Guinea-Bissau. Ms. Bernicat, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, currently serves as Country Director of the Office of India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka Affairs in the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs at the Department of State. Prior to this, she served as Director of the Senior Level Division of Career Development and Assignments in the Bureau of Human Resources at the Department of State. Earlier in her career, she served as Deputy Chief of Mission in Bridgetown. Ms. Bernicat received her bachelor's degree from Lafayette College and her master's degree from Georgetown University.
