Afghans Turn in Heavy Weapons
Afghanistan's armed factions are turning in artillery, tanks, and other heavy weapons because of a program designed to make the country more secure. The Heavy Weapons Cantonment program - which is 82 percent complete - has collected about 7,360 heavy weapons, which are being stored at special government-run sites. The arms will only be removed with the permission of both the Ministry of Defense and the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force.
