U.S. Military Aids Tsunami Victims
Fact of the Day

American soldiers and sailors are delivering humanitarian goods to victims of the recent tsunamis. As of January 2, the U.S. Air Force had transported 430,000 lbs. of food, supplies and equipment. The U.S. Navy is delivering relief supplies and evacuating the injured, and many of these missions are operating from the USS Abraham Lincoln. Maritime Propositioning Ships, capable of producing 25,000 gallons of fresh water a day, are also carrying food, water, medical supplies, and relief operations equipment. The Navy Environmental and Preventive Medicine Unit has a 31-person medical team in Indonesia to help stave off diseases. These are just a few of the ways the military is reaching out to tsunami victims in their time of need.
