U.S. Opens Worldwide Window on Elections

Americans shared our recent Presidential elections with the world. Radio, television, and the Internet made it possible for more people across the globe to watch the results. All 44 Voice of America language services broadcast election coverage over radio, and 22 of those language services also aired election television reports. Traffic to the VOA Web site doubled on election day, as audiences took advantage of video streaming and prompt, accurate reporting. In the weeks leading up to the election, American embassies hosted 220 special election programs with American political analysts. These kinds of programs are part of a long-standing dialogue between the United States and people of other nations.
