Afghans Learn How to Vote
Fact of the Day

Afghan election officials are educating voters about Saturday's landmark election. These public information campaigns have covered voting procedure, women's participation, secrecy of the vote, and ways to choose a candidate. Approximately 1,500 people are helping with the public education drive. They are using more than 3.5 million posters, 2,000 copies of flip charts and handbooks, 300,000 mock ballots, and almost 7 million leaflets, and are educating voters through radio, television, print, and even theater. These measures are vital as Afghans exercise the right to choose their leader directly for the first time in history.
