Japan Increases Aid to Darfur

Japan is responding to the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in Darfur by increasing its emergency aid. The country - which has already given $6 million in emergency assistance - is pledging an additional $15 million, bringing Japanese aid in Darfur to a total of $21 million. Japan also intends to provide assistance to Sudanese refugees in Chad. Japan and other members of the international community are outraged by the atrocities in Darfur, and are united in their determination to take concrete steps to resolve the crisis.
