Iraqi Women Take on Leadership Roles
Iraq Fact of the Day

Iraqi women are stepping forward to lead their nation into a democratic and prosperous future. In the new Iraqi government, there are six women in ministerial posts, and five women serve as deputy ministers. The Independent Electoral Commission has seven members, and two are women. Nearly 100 women have volunteered for the new Iraqi army. More than 1,000 women have already received training in the financial, fiscal, utilities and regulatory sectors, and future programs will include training and employment services for 1.5 million Iraqi women at 17 Vocational Technical Training Centers and 28 Employment Services Centers throughout Iraq. All of these Iraqi women are helping to build a better nation for themselves and their families.
