Personnel Announcement

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate two individuals to serve in his administration:

The President intends to nominate Charles Graves Untermeyer, of Texas, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the State of Qatar. Mr. Untermeyer currently serves as Vice President for Government Affairs and Professor of Public Policy at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Prior to this position, he was Director of Public Affairs for Compaq Computer Corporation. Earlier in his career, Mr. Untermeyer served as Director of the Voice of America and as Assistant to the President and Director of the Office of Presidential Personnel. Prior to that, Mr. Untermeyer served as an Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Manpower and Reserve Affairs). He received his bachelor's degree from Harvard College.

The President intends to nominate William T. Monroe, of Virginia, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Kingdom of Bahrain. A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Mr. Monroe currently serves as Deputy Chief of Mission in Pakistan. He previously served as Deputy Chief of Mission in Kuwait. Earlier in his career, Mr. Monroe served as an economic and political officer in Singapore and as an economic officer in China. He received his bachelor's degree from Stanford University and his master's degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
