Iraqi Society for Animal Welfare
Iraq Fact of the Day

The Iraqi Society for Animal Welfare officially opened on January 21, 2004. Even before, the Society had placed over 40 animals in Baghdad homes, and 20 additional animals are set for placement over the next week or so. Dr. Farah Murrani founded the Society, which, initially, will concentrate on adoption of stray animals and animal control. Over time, the animal welfare society will provide education on prevention of cruelty to animals, animal disease control, and shots and vaccinations. Animals in Iraq today are treated with the respect and care that is expected in decent societies.
