Personnel Announcement
President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate two individuals to be Members of the Election Assistance Commission:
The President intends to nominate Paul S. DeGregorio of Missouri, for an initial two-year term. Mr. DeGregorio currently serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for the International Foundation for Election Systems where he previously served as International and Domestic Election Administration and Democracy Specialist. Prior to these positions, Mr. DeGregorio served as Director of Outreach Development and as Research Associate for the Center for International Studies at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Earlier in his career, he served as Director of Elections for St. Louis County, Missouri. Mr. DeGregorio earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
The President intends to nominate Deforest B. Soaries, Jr. of New Jersey, for an initial four-year term. Mr. Soaries currently serves as Senior Pastor for the First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens in Somerset, New Jersey. He previously served as President of Corporate Community Connections, Inc. From January 1999 to January 2002, Mr. Soaries served as Secretary of State for New Jersey. Earlier in his career, he served as a Professor at Drew University Theological School. Mr. Soaries earned his bachelor's degree from Fordham University, his master's degree from Princeton Theological Seminary and his Ph.D. from United Theological Seminary.
