Personnel Announcement

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate one individual to serve in his administration:

The President intends to nominate Richard W. Erdman of Maryland, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria. A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Mr. Erdman currently serves as a senior advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Near Eastern Affairs. Previously, Mr. Erdman served as the Senior Area Advisor to the U.S. delegation to the 2002 UN General Assembly. Earlier in his career, he served as U.S. Special Envoy to the Israel Lebanon Monitoring Group in Nicosia, Cyprus and as Political Counselor to the Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel. Mr. Erdman earned his bachelor's degree from Princeton University and his master's degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.
