Global Message
The United States and our Coalition partners respect the people of Iraq and their great religious traditions, whose principles of equality and compassion are essential to Iraq's future.
Free nations across the world have different institutions that reflect their unique cultures and traditions, while sharing certain principles that define those institutions: freedom of speech, freedom of religion, individual rights, equal justice under law, protecting minorities against the tyranny of a majority and a government chosen by the people.
Just days after the people of Iraq realized they were free from the clutches of Saddam Hussein's terror, the Iraqi people are reclaiming their own streets, their own country, and their own future.
