Appointments and Designation
President Bush to Appoint Nine Individuals and Designate One to Serve in His Administration

President George W. Bush today announced the intention to appoint nine individuals and his intention to designate one individual to serve in his administration.

The President intends to appoint three individuals to serve as Members of the President's Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans. The Commission is charged with charting a multi-year plan to close the educational achievement gap for Hispanic Americans.

    Fernando Caldeiro of Texas
    Van Dedric Romero of New Mexico
    Juan Secada of Florida

The President intends to designate Enedelia Schofield of Oregon as Co-Chair of the President's Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans.

The President intends to appoint the following six individuals to serve as Members of the National Museum of African American History and Culture Plan for Action Presidential Commission:

    Renee Joslyn Amoore of Pennsylvania as the representative of the Association of African American Museums
    Barbara Alice Franco of Maryland as the representative of the Professional Museum Association
    Harold Kenneth Skamstad, Jr. of New Mexico as the representative of the Professional Museum Association
    Eric Lin Sexton of Kansas as the representative of Academic Institutions
    Currie Dioan Ballard of Oklahoma as the representative of the President's Board of Advisors on Historically Black Colleges and Universities
    Andrew Gene McLemore, Jr. of Michigan as the representative of the study of African American History
