Statement by the Press Secretary

On Friday, August 17, 2001, the President signed into law H.R. 2131, Tropical Forest Conservation Act Reauthorization, which authorizes appropriations through fiscal year 2004 for the protection of tropical forests through debt reduction for certain developing countries.
