President Bush to Nominate Sobel to be Ambassador of the United States to the Kingdom of the Netherlands

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate Clifford M. Sobel to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

"Cliff Sobel is an accomplished business leader who understands international trade and foreign affairs. He will represent the United States well as he serves as Ambassador to the Netherlands," said President Bush.

Sobel is the Chairman of Net2Phone, a provider of Internet telephony service. Additionally he serves as co-chair of a newly formed joint venture between Net2Phone and Cisco called ADIR, and is Chairman and President of SJJ Investment Corporation and CMS Realty Company. Mr. Sobel is the founder of Norcrown Bank of Roseland, New Jersey, and served as a board member from 1985 to 1991. From 1994 to 1998, he served as a member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council after Presidential appointment, and from 1987 to 1989 he served on the U.S. Government Industry Sector International Trade Board. He serves as a member of the board of the Lexington Institute and was Chairman of the Board of Overseers for the Alexis de Tocqueville Institution. He is on the advisory board of Empower America and is a board member of Business Executives for National Security. A resident of New Jersey, he is a graduate of New York University.
