Personnel Announcements

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate two individuals to serve in his administration.

The President intends to nominate Larry D. Thompson to be Deputy Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice. He is currently a partner with the law firm of King & Spalding in Atlanta, Georgia. He served under former President Ronald Reagan as the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia. He is a graduate of Culver-Stockton College, received his master's degree from Michigan State University and he received his J.D. from the University of Michigan.

The President intends to nominate Theodore B. Olson to be Solicitor General of the United States. He is presently a partner with the law firm of Gibson Dunn & Crutcher and served as Assistant Attorney General in the Office of Legal Counsel at the Department of Justice under former President Ronald Reagan. Mr. Olson received his bachelor's degree from the University of the Pacific and his law degree from the Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California at Berkeley.
