Daffodils glow in the sun as the White House South Lawn blooms with color in the first warm days of the 2006 spring season. Katherine Crabapples line the Rose Garden bed of tulips between the West Wing and the White House Residence.
Amaryllis bloom at the feet of Constantino Brumidi’s 1869 painting, “Union,” in the West Garden Room. The painting, and a companion piece titled, “Liberty,” was originally installed on the ceiling White House Entrance Hall. Pink Laura Bush tulips bloom in the East Garden. The tulip was named in the First Lady’s honor April 22, 2004.
Lady Bird Johnson tulips pop with color as spring comes to the White House. Amid the flowering arms of a Katherine Crabapple tree, a dove makes a home for its expected young in the Rose Garden of the White House.
