          Vice President's Visit to Lithuania

Vice President Dick Cheney delivers the keynote speech Thursday, May 4, 2006, at the Vilnius Conference 2006 in Vilnius, Lithuania. In his remarks the Vice President spoke of the story of democracy that has been written over the last two decades in the Baltic and Black Sea regions. "This great story has been repeated many times in the course of a generation, enhancing the lives of millions, and lifting the hopes of millions more," he said, adding, "With the consolidation of democracy, and the expansion of NATO and the European Union, countries that once were rivals have become partners."
