Statement of Office of Management and Budget Director Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr
on Release of $5.1 Billion in Emergency Funds
"The Bush Administration moved quickly to release this first
installment of $5.1 billion to address the pressing humanitarian, recovery,
and national security needs related to the attack on America. The executive
agencies and departments are to be commended for their prompt and efficient
assessment of the nation’s needs. We anticipate a second installment of
funds will be released within one to two weeks."
