Subject: A proud American

One day after terrorists used commercial airplanes to destroy the World Trade Center Towers and attack the Pentagon, firefighters take a moment to post the flag into the scarred stone as inspiration for fellow rescue workers searching through the debris Sept. 12. White House photo by Paul Morse. Dear Mr. President,

I'm sure you get thousands upon thousands of e-mails a day. However I just wanted to express how proud I am of you. In a time a national tragedy such as this, you held our nation together as best you could. You didn't just talk about taking action against the monsters who destroyed so many precious American lives, you are actually doing something about it. My husband is in the military and I just wanted to say that I support your decision, and am proud to be called an American.

With our troops beginning to head off somewhere that my husband cannot say. I wanted to take the time to share my thoughts with you on the matter. I know that my husband will be leaving soon. He will be leaving behind a wife, a daughter who is 15 months old, and a son who will be 2 months on the 30th of this month. Now I don't know if after we say goodbye that I'll ever see him again. But I'm willing to make that sacrafice, so that he can protect and defend our country's freedom, our families, and our way of life, just as other great soldiers have done before him.

Well I guess that was all I wanted to say. I may not be an important public official, however I wanted to let you know that I am one American citizen who stands right beside you, and believes in you.

Yours Truly,
Vicki
