Dear Mr. President,

To start with, my name is Brian and I am 18 years old and am a freshman in college. I am well aware of how busy you are, more so now than ever, and the chances of your actually reading this email are very slim, but I decided to write it anyway, in hopes that someone connected with your administration will read it. I want to tell you that I am proud to be an American and am proud to have you as my president.

When I filled out my selective service application this past summer, I thought long and hard about what I would do if the United States declared war and I was called upon to serve my country in the Armed Forces.

At that time, I was not so sure how I would respond, but now I am more sure than ever. I am enjoying the college experience immensely, but I recognize that I am only able to enjoy it because of the sacrifices of countless other Americans. I am more than willing to serve my country through whatever means necessary, be it through self-sacrifice in order to aid our soldiers currently on the front, or through joining them myself.

In spite of the criticism that you will invariably receive no matter what your actions are, I want you to know that someone out there supports you.

God Bless,

Brian
St. Louis, Missouri
