For over one billion Muslims throughout the world, Ramadan is month of fasting, prayer, worship, and contemplation. During the month of Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset every day. It is a time to strengthen family and community ties.
As President Bush stated in his Ramadan message, "Muslims observe this month [Ramadan] by renewing their dedication to caring for those in need, doing good deeds, and strengthening family and community ties. These actions reflect many of the values that Muslims share with people of other faiths."

(all events subject to change) Following the President's lead, many Administration officials and government agencies are participating in Ramadan events. In keeping with its Charter, Voice of America will cover presidential speeches in multiple languages, as well as information on all Ramadan events with the President or cabinet officers; broadcast a series of programs looking at how Ramadan is observed in the U.S.; and devote VOAs popular call-in show (radio, TV and Internet) to Muslim scholars discussing Islam and Ramadan.
