F.D. Roosevelt: Purchased by his father James 15 years before his birth, President Franklin Roosevelt's lifelong home was a large frame house called "Springwood" in Hyde Park, New York. The previous owner had built a three story tower and full length porch, but James Roosevelt added two rooms, enlarged the servants' wing, and built a large carriage house for his horses and carriages. Located in the East Room

In keeping with the theme Home for the Holidays, replicas from the original family home plans of the nation's Presidents were created by White House staff members and displayed in a wintry forest throughout the rooms of the White House.
