Mrs. Bush's Remarks During Visit to Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Home and Museum

The home was designated this week as a Save America's Treasures project, which is in partnership with the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Mrs. Bush noted that Wilder, who wrote the "Little House" book series, was one of her favorite authors. "My mother read them to me when I was little before I could read," she said. The home is where the "Liittle House" book series was written. Mrs. Bush, who is encouraging Americans to read our country's literary classics, noted that Laura Ingalls Wilder is an American author whose books have been loved by children and adults for over 70 years. Laura Ingalls married Almanzo Wilder in the summer of 1885 and moved to the Mansfield home where the "Little House" book series was written in 1894.
