Mrs. Laura Bush poses with the winners of the 2008 Cooper-Hewitt National Design Awards at the White House on July 14, 2008. The awards are given in various disciplines such as communications, architecture, landscape, product, interior, fashion and people's design as well as in lifetime achievement, corporate achievement, special jury commendation. They awards are a tool to increase national awareness of design by promoting excellence, innovation and lasting achievement.
