Personnel Announcement

White House News

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate one individual to serve in his Administration.

The President intends to nominate Lily Fu Claffee, of Illinois, to be General Counsel of the Department of Commerce. Ms. Claffee currently serves as Deputy General Counsel of the Department of the Treasury. Prior to this, she served as Deputy Associate Attorney General at the Department of Justice. Earlier in her career, she served as a Partner at Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw. Ms. Claffee received her bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin and her JD from the University of Minnesota.
