Personnel Announcement

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate two individuals to serve in his Administration.

The President intends to nominate Stephen J. Nolan, of Virginia, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Botswana. Mr. Nolan, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, currently serves as Executive Director of the Bureau of African Affairs at the Department of State. Prior to this, he served as Staff Director of the Board of Examiners for the Foreign Service at the Department of State. Earlier in his career, he served as Consul General in Cape Town. Mr. Nolan received his bachelor's degree from Villanova University and his master's degree from the Thunderbird School of Global Management.

The President intends to nominate Joseph Evan LeBaron, of Oregon, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the State of Qatar. Ambassador LeBaron, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, currently serves as Foreign Policy Advisor at the United States Special Operations Command. Prior to this, he served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. Earlier in his career, he served as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Intelligence and Research (INR) at the Department of State. Ambassador LeBaron received his bachelor's degree from Portland State University. He received his master's degree and PhD from Princeton University.
