President Bush to Welcome Afghan President Karzai to Camp David

President and Mrs. Bush will welcome President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan to Camp David on August 5-6, 2007. The Presidents will review their work together to enhance Afghanistan's long-term democracy, prosperity, and security as agreed in the Joint Declaration of Strategic Partnership of May 23, 2005. They will discuss progress in implementing Afghanistan's National Development Strategy, as well as steps to improve governance and fight corruption, justice sector development, and economic development. The Presidents will also review their continuing strong cooperation in the war on terror, support for Afghan counternarcotics efforts, progress against militant extremists, and cooperation with neighboring states. The President looks forward to hosting the Afghan leader for his first visit to Camp David.
