President Bush to Welcome President Uribe of Colombia

President Bush will host Colombian President Alvaro Uribe at the White House on May 2, 2007. Colombia is an important strategic partner, and this visit underscores the friendship and extensive cooperation between the United States and Colombia. The two leaders will discuss a range of issues, including their shared commitment to advancing opportunity, security, and respect for human rights in Colombia, as well as the importance of free trade to sustained economic growth, job creation, and prosperity. The visit will also be an opportunity for the President to underscore his appreciation for the positive role Colombia plays in the region.
