Personnel Announcement

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate and designate the following individual to serve in his Administration.

The President intends to nominate Reuben Jeffery III, of the District of Columbia, to be Under Secretary of State (Economic, Energy, and Agricultural Affairs); United States Alternate Governor of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development at the Department of State for a term of five years; United States Alternate Governor of the Inter-American Development Bank for a term of five years; United States Alternate Governor of the African Development Bank for a term of five years; United States Alternate Governor of the African Development Fund; United States Alternate Governor of the Asian Development Bank; and Alternate Governor of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Mr. Jeffery currently serves as Chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Prior to this, he served as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for International Economic Affairs at the National Security Council. Earlier in his career, he served as Representative and Executive Director of the Coalition Provisional Authority at the Department of Defense. Mr. Jeffery received his bachelor's degree from Yale University, his master's degree from Stanford University Business School, and his JD from Stanford Law School.
