Research Promises Hope in Fight Against Malaria
Fact of the Day

NIH-funded researchers at Johns Hopkins University have designed several new compounds that, in early testing, promise to be safer and more effective in fighting malaria than current drug treatments. Malaria kills from 1.5 million to 3 million people every year, most of whom are children. Ninety percent of infections occur in sub-Saharan Africa. This research provides hope for countries battling the disease.
