Students at Fort Belvoir Elementary School fill the gymnasium Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005, for a visit by Mrs. Lynne Cheney. Mrs. Cheney spoke with the kids about the importance of the upcoming Iraqi elections and likened the parliamentary procedure to that of America's in its own early struggle for democracy. Mrs. Cheney holds up her finger as she describes to students at W.W. Burrows Elementary School in Quantico the procedure for casting votes in the upcoming parliamentary elections in Iraq and its importance. Mrs. Cheney spoke to the kids Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005, on the U.S. Marine Corps base.
Lynne Cheney shares ideas from her book "A is for Abigail: An Almanac of Amazing American Women" with more than 80 third grade students from Ashurst Elementary School and Russell Elementary School on Marine Corps Base, Quantico, Va., Oct. 23, 2003. This is the second children's book authored by Mrs. Cheney designed to educate children about American History. Mrs. Cheney's proceeds from the book will be donated to charity. Lynne Cheney appears as the special guest on WKID, a live televised morning news program for and by Ashurst Elementary School students, on Marine Corps Base, Quantico, Va., Oct. 23, 2003. After singing the Star-Spangled Banner, Mrs. Cheney discussed her two children's books "America: A Patriotic Primer" and "A is for Abigail: An Almanac of Amazing American Women" during the segment titled The Reading Corner. Mrs. Cheney shared her passion for learning and teaching America’s history with students from Orange and Gordon-Barbour Elementary Schools. Mrs. Cheney tours Montpelier, the home of founding father James Madison, with Michael Quinn, president and CEO of The Montpelier Foundation, in Montpelier Station, Virginia on Thursday, March 11. Montpelier is currently undergoing a $30 million restoration to authentically restore the home to its appearance during James Madison'’s lifetme.
