American Pride |
|
Date: 09/21/2001 09:48 PM EDT
From: April
To: President George W. Bush
Subject: American Pride
Dear Mr. President,
I am writing to let you know that this last weekend I went to visit my son in San Diego, CA. He was on the USS Benfold for the last 6 months and was due home on Saturday. I knew he would not be able to come home so I drove down to see him before he was deployed out to sea.
As we sat and talked that night and he told me he was fearful but not afraid. I explained to him that we live in a country that allows us to be who we truly are as humans and we as Americans had to defend that.
I also explained to him, that as his mother of 41, if I could enlist and fight alongside him that I would do that, not for him, but for my country that I am so proud of.
I told him that God comes first and then our country and that it was so important to defend those two to our deaths.
I want to say to you, that I am proud to be an American, that you are President and that my son will be able to help in the defending of our country and freedom.
Sincerely,
April
