Mrs. Bush announces a $60 million public-private partnership between the U.S. Government and the Case Foundation at President Bill Clinton's Annual Global Initiative Conference in New York, NY, Wednesday, September 20, 2006. The partnership will work to provide clean water to up to 10 million people in sub-Sahara Africa by 2010, and support the provision and installation of PlayPump water systems in approximately 650 schools, health centers and HIV affected communities. PlayPump water system is powered by children's play consisting of a merry-go-round attached to a water pump with a storage tank. Mrs. Laura Bush participates in a ceremony to celebrate the completion of the National Garden Friday, September 29, 2006, at the United States Botanic Garden in Washington, D.C. Major features of the National Garden will be the Rose Garden, the Butterfly Garden, the Lawn Terrace, the First Ladies' Water Garden, the Regional Garden, and an outdoor amphitheater.
