Interagency Task Force on Energy Project Streamlining Extends Call for Comment

The White House Interagency Task Force on Energy Project Streamlining is extending its call for comments from the public on the scope and focus of its work and information about specific projects that would be good candidates for a focused interagency effort. It had previously asked that all comments be submitted by October 1. Comments will now be accepted until October 31, 2001.

The task force was created by President George W. Bush by Executive Order on May 18, 2001. It is charged with finding ways to harmonize and expedite the review and permitting of projects that will increase the production, transmission and conservation of energy, while maintaining safety, public health, and environmental protections.

The task force will use the public comments it receives as part of an ongoing public dialogue and exchange of ideas about better processes, management practices, and coordination opportunities to promote more effective decision making.

Additional information about the task force can be found at www.whitehouse.gov/ceq/etf.html. Comments may be submitted through the CEQ web site at www.whitehouse.gov/ceq. Written comments may also be submitted to the Chair, Council on Environmental Quality, Executive Office of the President, 722 Jackson Place, NW, Washington, DC 20503, attention: V.A. Stephens, Energy Project Streamlining Task Force, or they may be faxed to the Task Force at (202) 456-6546.
