Doesn't my computer automatically manage my records?
No, not unless it has a special software package specifically
for records management. Consult with your records officer about
agency policy in managing electronic records.
What about email? Is that a record too?
If you are discussing agency business in an email message, then
it is a Federal record.
Can I permanently delete email?
You may permanently delete email only if your agency has
authority from NARA to delete email. Check with your agency's
records officer to learn about your agency's email policy.
