Description: Task Order provides support for the assessment of the Exploration Systems Mission Directorate (ESMD) Integrated Modeling and Simulation (IM&S) strategies and for enhancement of ESMD Advanced Concepts Office (ACO) modeling and simulation. NASA's Exploration Systems Mission Directorate (ESMD) is placing an emphasis on IM&S (previously characterized as Simulation Based Acquisition (SBA)), as referenced in the ESMD SBA Implementation Strategy, baseline document, February 16, 2005, in order to execute the Vision for Space Exploration. The integrated Modeling and Simulation (M&S) approach is intended to empower the ESMD organizational team to conceptualize, design, develop, test, evaluate, and execute improved system engineering and integration processes as enabled by comprehensive, integrated analysis, modeling and simulation capabilities. Additionally, by using the IM&S capabilities to perform integrated systems analysis early in and throughout the systems lifecycle, ESMD systems will be developed with improved quality, at less cost and lower risk than would otherwise be the case. This IM&S capability will be developed and used by the government and its support service and prime contractors. The intent of this effort is to focus resources and contractor effort on the near-term execution of one phase of the system lifecycle, while simultaneously planning for the subsequent lifecycle capability development and implementation phases.
