Description: The Coweeta Hydrologic Laboratory has a long history of 'grass-roots' technology transfer activities. In a typical year, 60-70 groups (> 1500 individuals) ranging from K-12 science classes to world-renowned scientists visit Coweeta to learn about historical and contemporary science discoveries. Although highly effective, it was clear that significant improvements in the effectiveness of Coweeta's Technology Transfer (TT) activities could be accomplished with (1) improved facilities (i.e., the Coweeta Conference Center completed in early 2004) and (2) a formal TT Program led by a TT Specialist. Natural resource managers are eager to apply the best science to natural resource management, but a disconnect often exists between the science available in published peer-reviewed papers and on-the-ground application. The Coweeta Hydrologic Laboratory significantly expanded its Technology Transfer Program to improve the effective transfer of state-of-the-science to natural resource managers.
