Description: The Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is a major forest pest in the east. The science that helps to control and manage this major forest pest is part of the base science program of the Northern Research Station. Funds are being invested to understand the biology of the EAB and develop effective control technologies. The funds address an agency, Department, OMB, and Congressional priority to control major forest pests and pathogens to ensure healthy forests. Funds help support two science projects, NRS 4506 and NRS 4509 ($244,000), as well as scientists at Ohio State University (about $150,000) through a cooperative agreement.
