Description: This project addresses a 'Big Science' Theme ('Urban Natural Resources Stewardship') and one of the Chief's Four Threats ' 'Loss of Open Space'. These funds help improve the livability in urban areas in conjunction with the Baltimore Ecosystem Study, with a focus on modeling the impacts and linkages of environmental and human health. FY 2007 is the 4th year of the initial five-year study. The funds provide support for one scientist and approximately $70,000 for grants to compile and analyze urban watershed information ' water quality, urban canopy cover, heat island impacts, and a wide-range of social needs.
