Description: The funding was used to continue the Hawaii Endangered Species Act Community Conservation project, including implementation of the locally-driven habitat restoration and protection strategy on the islands of Hawaii, Maui, Molokai, and Lanai; and, to initiate a similar effort for the islands of Oahu and Kaui. The goal of this effort is to bring together private landowners, hunters, environmentalists and State and Federal land managers to work toward resolution of the longstanding conflict between game-mammal management and endangered species conservation in Hawaii.
