Description: NASA is acquiring Unpiloted Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), such as a General Atomics Predator-B, and surrogate UAVs to support research, development, and flight demonstration of technologies in support of the Earth Science Capability Demonstrations Subproject, part of the High Altitude, Long Endurance (HALE) Project under the Vehicle System Program. The currently envisioned initial project for the Predator-B testbed will support the development of many of the highest pay-off capabilities for high altitude, long endurance (HALE) science missions, namely: autonomous mission management, intelligent system health monitoring, and sophisticated contingency management. Under this contract, the contractor (ISR) will develop, test, and deliver the Airborne Research Test System (ARTS) III hardware systems and software executive, which will be integrated into NASA's Predator-B testbed, with the potential for installation into future UAVs or surrogate UAVs.
